windows 7 , unidentified network, No internet access

I'm thinking that a virus/bad windows update caused it but not sure. All you have to do is run a system restore to a date probaly about a week before it happened. Mine occured on 12/18/11 and i ran a update for 12/16/11 which didn't work so i chose an earlier restore point which was 12/10/11 and it fixed my "identifying no network access" problem.
